For the last sixteen
years, the United Way of Virginia's Eastern Shore has relied
on people like you to help us improve the quality of life
for all Eastern Shore residents.
Since
our inception in 1991, we have raised over $3.5 million dollars
through our annual fundraising campaigns.
This success is attributed to the outstanding efforts of many
volunteers and the support given by many employees, individuals
and corporate donors who have contributed to our community through
these campaigns.
Before you make a contribution to the United
Way of Virginia's Eastern Shore, you should know the answer
to these commonly asked questions. They are the key in helping
you understand the difference your contribution makes.

WHAT
does the United Way of Virginia's Eastern Shore
do ?
|
The United Way has one
mission: to help improve the qualify
of life for all residents of the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
We make sure every donation accomplishes as much as it can.
Because
ours is a volunteer-driven fundraising organization, we can
operate at a very low cost. Each year, many volunteers donate
their time to help us raise money. This allows more of your
donation to reach agencies funded by the United Way. In turn,
these agencies provide the services that help the community.
|
WHICH
agencies do you fund ?
|
The
United Way of Virginia's Eastern Shore funds 30 full member
agencies. Full member agencies are organizations who apply
directly to the United Way and meet stringent membership criteria.
The charitable organizations receiving designated and allocated
United Way funds are listed HERE If
you are unable to locate a particular service, please call
the United Way office at (757) 787-5622.
Thank
You !
|
Because we
can't do it without you! With your contribution, United Way
agencies can continue to provide essential services in our
community. Many of these services are used by people in financial
need or personal crisis; whereas others benefit all residents.

Volunteers. These are people like you and
me. They are mothers, fathers, professionals, and retirees who
come from all areas of the community. United Way volunteers
are dedicated to keep fundraising costs to a minimum and making
sure your funds are distributed wisely. Through the allocations
process, they thoroughly study each full member agency by making
personal visits, reviewing budgets, and monitoring the agencies'
use of United Way funds.
